I just want to clarify because I know there has been a little confusion lately. This tumblr is run by a separate person than the People Against I am a mother to an angel facebook page. I started this blog separately as part of my own way of exposing Kerin/IAAMTAA and holding her accountable. The facebook page was started separately by different people after reading this blog to give people a place to vent and share stories as well. While we are working towards the same goal and share information - the facebook page and this page are two separate things. If there is issue or question of something that has been posted here, contacting them will not do you any good as they have no way to control or edit what is posted here, your best bet is to contact me directly.
Also, I do NOT condone harassing or attacking ANY group or person that chooses to support Kerin/IAAMTAA. While I do think that spreading the word and messaging people to point them in the direction of this information is a GOOD thing and a needed thing, please allow people to make their own choices at their own pace. You are welcome to share anything on this blog or the blog itself to help people or groups see what Kerin has done. Everyone, INCLUDING us that believe she has done wrong, is entitled to their own opinion. Or to simply ignore it. If they wish to ignore what is going on in the community they care about, that is their choice. I will say that it is my belief that turning a blind eye only helps the one doing damage, not the people who have been victimized.
I would like to respectfully ask that those who do not see out point of view refrain from calling us “bullies” or that this is a “witch hunt”. People have been victimized. They have been stolen from and lied too and in many cases are out hard earned money. They were taken advantage of in their grief. Please do not make them feel that they are in the wrong for standing up for themselves against someone who has victimized them - it is never ok to victim blame, and that is what these people are, victims. Do not trivialize what has happened to them just because it didn’t happen to you or you do not see it the same way. As loss parents, we should know how hurtful it is to have our feelings trivialized, this is no different.
I noticed that there has been no updates posted on how much has been raised through Kerin’s scentsy link through bunny sales. I have been a part of many scentsy fundraisers and the rep always posts running tallies of how much has been made. Odd how nothing has been mentioned.
I have noticed that Kerin does like to inject herself into every aspect of the babyloss community, she likes her face/name out there but doesn’t like to do much for anyone else.
Did you guys know she is the state representative for Q.U.I.L.T.? AND the local leader for Return to Zero? I didn’t. Considering both Q.U.I.L.T. and RTZ have some huge things going on, you would think you would see some mention of them her page. As of this moment, I have seen nothing, but we all know how Kerin loves to put on a good show.
She has already declared herself “a leader in the loss community” and her “organization” the “face of child, infant and pregnancy loss”, is this really who you want representing the community???
Who is willing to bet she makes some mention of both things on her page today?
Every month The Sacred Seashore donates 25% of it’s proceeds to charity. I just noticed who the September 2013 recipient was - exactly how much fundraising was done for bears that people purchase and are not donated to anyone. Considering Kerin Herself admitted that IAAMTAA is a business and was never a non-profit why exactly is she taking donations?
It couldn’t possibly be because at one point she did say she was a non profit and that *might* have confused some people. Or she is just a thief. I vote the latter.
While Kerin/IAAMTAA has changed the wording on the “about” page, it’s still manages to be not clearly defined. She states she is a business but still states that the money goes to “other things” in the bereavement community. What “other things”? She states she donates to items, but we have already seen one case where she only donated for show and never sent the item. The wording still leads you to believe she isn’t really making a profit.
She is still going on about the Remembears “program”. It’s an odd program. You can buy a bear, and help pay for another bear..or you can just buy a bear for someone else..or you can get on the wait list to be sponsored and pay $5.00 for shipping to hold your spot. As I have discussed before, the bears only cost 3.75 and it is about 1.50 to ship them. So I don’t know what she is still going on about the “program”. She is just simply selling bears.
I would also love to know what the whole scentsy thing is about - “$120 off our goal?” What goal? That’s great she has “raised a lot of money” through scentsy but since she already admitted to being a buisness, not a charity..what exactly does that posting mean to accomplish? Other than to mislead people into buying from her link?
Why can’t she just simply say, “This is a memorial shop.” Is it because she thinks people won’t buy from her? Because it sounds better to say that “the money goes to other things”? Or because she doesn’t think people will put up with 3-8+ month wait times?
Kerin likes to tout how she uses the proceeds from sales to “give back to other things around the baby loss community” and is always boasting about how she “donates” items to giveaways.
The submitter for this one explains that she had contacted Kerin about purchasing a scentsy gift card from her for her holiday giveaway, after telling her that wasn’t possible Kerin, offered to donate a RememBEAR. Giveaway ends - winners info is passed along - and in Febuary the page owner finds out that the bear was never sent to the winner and ends up having to replace the prize for the winner out of her own items.
Just shows that Kerin likes to make a good show of things and never follows through.
How not to “cause market” 101
Super awesome that Kerin donated to Avery’s Angels (which is a wonderful charity) from the t-shirt campaign but I would like to point out that Kerin made a PERSONAL donation not a donation from IAAMTAA, since proceeds came from IAAMTAA, that is how the donation should have been made.
I would like to point out that originally, Kerin said she would be donating to Beads of Courage or March of Dimes (maybe) she wasn’t sure - and she never stated how much would be going to the charity she picked.
I recreated the campaign on teespring and Kerin/IAAMTAA made about $2100.00 with the t-shirt campaign.
This is EXACTLY how NOT to cause market. Businesses have a duty to be transparent BEFORE customers make their purchase.Customers have right to question where their money is going when vague promises of donations are being made. This is borderline fraudulent marketing, but considering Kerin had no issue pretending to be a non-profit, this should not surprise me anymore.
While a $100 donation seems wonderful, when you factor how much Kerin made from the t-shirts, it really isn’t - as I’ve outlined before, Kerin makes a huge amount of money off these t-shirt sales. As someone who claims to be a “leader in the loss community” not only should she be setting an example of proper business ethics and standards but she should have been more upfront about how much she was going to be donating on BEHALF of I am a mother to an angel. It’s just another thing to add to the pile of misleading wording and tricky advertising.
